44. Big Sur, California

Big Sur is not only a great spot to unwind it is also a popular place for whale watching. Big Sur is one of the most majestic locations on California’s central coast.

Some find that the whales, dolphins, deers, and squirrels are great companions but if the solitude of the more rugged areas near the Pacific Ocean makes you lonely then do some camping. Campsites around here are quite social so it’s easy to meet people.

Don’t forget to check out the McWay Falls in nearby Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
