6Goreme National Park, Turkey

What makes this a standout park are the unique rock formations. Known as “fairy chimneys”, they are also why the park is referred to as the “Rock Sites of Cappadocia” by UNESCO). These interesting formations are the result of inhabitants of Goreme and date back as far as the third century.

If you’re the adventurous type and aren’t afraid of heights get a bird’s eye view of the entire park via a hot air balloon ride. You’ll see not only the famous fairy chimneys but also the streams, hills, and plains as well.

  1. We beg to differ! According to such sites as worldatlas.com: “The Republic of Turkey is a transcontinental Eurasian nation located between Europe and Asia.” It is a transcontinental country. In fact, a small portion is located on the Balkan peninsula in Southeastern Europe.
In other words, it qualifies for inclusion on this list.
    Thanks for reading!

  2. Only a small part of Turkey is Europe. The rest of the country is Asia, with people living many centuries back.

  3. Hi!
Yes! I have actually acknowledged that elsewhere on this website. The point is since part of the country is in Europe it met the qualifications for inclusion on the list. It is similar to including Niagara Falls as a favorite American honeymoon destination. We all know part of the place is in Canada but nevertheless it is the part of the area that is physically in the USA that gets it on the list.
I hope that clarifies things for you.
    Thanks for reading!

  4. So according to you Will Phoenix, Vladivostok, Primorskij kraj, Russland is in Europe, since St. Petersburg and other parts of Russia is in Europe.
It’s just a tiny bit of Turky that are in Europe. Therby this National Park should not be on this list.

  5. Hello!
I am sorry but I have already addressed the issue citing online sources. Turkey is a transcontinental country and those who created the list considered it eligible for the list. While I am the person who wrote the article, I did not create the list.
I suggest that you read the response more carefully and proofread your own comment as well. I usually get paid to write. Therefore, if you wish to discuss this further, you can either send me money or get your mother to buy me several drinks.
