4Hariharalaya, Cambodia
Named after Cambodian interpretation of a deity who features the attributes of Hindu gods Vishnu and Shiva, Hariharalaya goes back to the 800-1000 AD as the capital of Vedic Cambodia. The tiny hamlet is located a mere 10 miles away from Siem Reap, and houses the Hariharalaya Retreat Center (vegan meal, meditation sessions and yoga retreats). The place is known to host more than 40 retreats annually that emphasize on holistic yoga, meditation and conscious living. The primary objective here is not to practice yoga for a few days and go. It is about helping you inculcate yoga as a lifestyle changing habit. Don’t expect to find Wi-Fi here as the village has only recently got electricity.
