9The Noatak River, Alaska

Take the gentle, 45-mile stretch of the 220-mile river.  Designated in 1980, this trip floats from Twelve Mile Slough to Lake Matcharak.  Take in the views of the surrounding Schwatka and Endicott Mountains.  Keep an eye out for Dall sheep, grizzlies, and wolves too.

The season is from June through September.  If you go in June you’ll have a great chance of seeing the annual caribou migration.  Go in September if you’re a fan of blueberries, fall colors, or the aurora borealis.

  1. Hi!
I am unsure which picture you are referring to but t should coincide with the accompanying article entry. At any rate, thanks for the comment and for your support!

  2. That picture in the hot springs next to the river was taken in Colorado. I visited there last summer (2021) after remembering a trip there with my mom in in my 20’s!

It was very memorable! I can’t remember the town. Look up “hot springs in Colorado”
They’ve added several pools there and hotel rooms!

  3. Hi!
If you are referring to the pictures in the collage, you could be right. To be honest, I have not been to Colorado for several years now. I have to say it is still amazing to me how you can start a trip in one state and before you know it you’ve been in a couple of others! Still, that’s part of what makes it fun! Did you ever go to The Four Corner States and stand in four states at once?
    Thanks for your support!
