6Quolls, Tasmania

If you’re looking for species of wildlife not normally found on mainland Australia, the Apple Isle is the place to be.  Both the spotted-tail quoll (presently threatened on the mainland) and the eastern quoll (reportedly extinct on the mainland) are still commonly found in Tasmania.  These extraordinary marsupials are carnivores and mainly nocturnal in nature.  So your best bet to spot them is with the assistance of an experienced guide.
