5River Surfing, Kananaskis River, Alberta

A group of surfing enthusiasts built a huge wave from a boulder for around 25,000 dollars and innumerable hours invested in the pursuit. The wave is conveniently located at an hour’s drive from Calgary and is free for riding. Bonus – the unbelievably beautiful scenery surrounding the wave makes for an interesting backdrop for practicing your surfing skills. River Surfing makes for a good picnic or day tripping option form Calgary, if you are looking for more off-beat destinations that are not hijacked by tourists. Adventure, nature and serenity, where else can you experience all this, except Canada.

  1. Hello again,
I have gone river tubing with the scouts, and it was fun. I imagine it is even more fun when you do it while drinking. I have tried surfing once or twice, very briefly, and think I would need formal lessons to get anywhere with it. Thanks for your comment!
