El Médano Beach, Spain
Situated in the all-ages resort spot of El Médano, El Médano Beach can be found on Tenerife Island’s southeast coast. From this beach, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the protected Red Volcano or Montaña Roja. This vacation destination in the Canary islands also offers attractions accented by its true Spanish origins such as the tapas restaurants and the traditionally-inspired nightlife choices. Winds here are actually strong enough to facilitate great windsurfing and kite surfing too.
Black Sand Basin, Wyoming
Not every black sand beach is by an ocean. Just one mile away from the famous Old Faithful Visitor Center in Yellowstone National Park you’ll find Black Sand Basin. The rare sand here is born of quickly cooling lava.
Walk down the old 0.4-mile boardwalk and take in the ethereal thermal springs at Rainbow, Opalescent, and Emerald Pools. See the active crater Cliff Geyser erupt. Every few minutes you will see an eruption up to 30 feet high.
