5Flores Island, Portugal
Flores Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is known for its unusual plants and animal resources. It is nestled in the western most part of the more popular Azores islands near Portugal’s stunning looking coast. Flores Island literally means cape of flowers, and the entire territory is enveloped in flowers of all hues. That’s not all in this Portuguese hidden gem. The attraction also boasts of natural springs, sprawling rice fields, blue lagoons, cozy hamlets, pristine lakes and a string of well-known caves.
