14The French Riviera, France
Visiting the famed French Riviera in spring is “tres romantique.” Ah, but this region of France is not without its glitz and glamor either. Indeed, May is when the celebrities and social elite make their way here to attend the world-famous Cannes Film Festival.
During this 12-day celebration, you can see numerous private yachts sailing around the harbor here. You can also find unique offerings in the local boutiques and restaurants. May is also when the famous Monte Carlo Formula 1 Grand Prix is run. On a realistic note, while May is the most lively, exciting time to visit, these events are not free. If you’re on a budget or not interested in either of these big events, you can always hit the popular Metropole Shopping Mall and go window shopping.
