Visiting Tanzania in May leaves you open to the close of the rainy season. Still, if you want the best chance to see the incredible Serengeti wildebeest migration, this is definitely the best time to visit. The good news is that more recently the late-season rains have been tapering off so even if it does rain, it will not rain all day.

Mind you, specific migration patterns are influenced by the rainfall, which is different every year, so you will have to do your homework prior to actually booking your visit. As a rule, the wildebeest move north through the Moru Kopjes, so plan to stay somewhere within that area. Remember too, that there are a number of other assorted attractions to see as well such as the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar and majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
