Since winning the election, Donald Trump has spent several weekends at his famous Mar-a-Lago resort. In 1985, he bought the property for $5 million. He bought previous owner Marjorie Merriweather Post’s furniture for an extra $3 million. He made it a private club in 1995. According to CNBC, the club’s initiation fee reportedly rose to $200,000 when Trump became President of the United States. The annual membership dues are $14,000 before tax. In February 2018, The Washington Post claimed that three of Trump’s presidential trips to Mar-a-Lago cost $10 million.
