2National Museum of China, Beijing, China
Sitting pretty at number two, Beijing’s National Museum of China hosted a staggering 7.6 million members of the public in 2014. The free admission to public museum came into being in 2003 when two museums in Tiananmen Square (National Museum of Chinese Revolution and National Museum of Chinese History) merged. This is one of the planet’s largest museums spanning 192,00 square meters, where ancient and contemporary Chinese artifacts rub shoulders with each other. See the iconic jade dragon from 5000 BC, a series of Neolithic relics and several intricate carvings.
