11Natural History Museum, London, UK

London’s Natural History Museum houses an unbelievable 80 plus million specimens (yes you read that right mate), a few of which date back several billion years. Little wonder then than it saw 5.4 million visitors in 2014. It was established as an archetypical Roman structure during 1881, and displays several large exhibits, including whales and elephants in the main hall. This was originally a part of the British Museum, until it gained autonomy in 1963. There’s a nice working lab and historic collections center at the Darwin Center.
