1313. Visit The Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta
Also known as the Church of Santa Maria Assunta or I Gesuiti, this attraction can be found in Venice’s Cannaregio region. The front of the church is highlighted by ornate statues of Christian figures, stone columns, and a large bronze door which serves as the entrance. The ceiling is decorated with frescoes and detailed in gold.
Actually one of the newer churches in the city, it was built in 1729. Nevertheless, it is home to several significant pieces of art including Titan’s the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence. Furthermore, artwork, frescos and gold detail cover the ceiling of the church and some beautiful motif artwork lines the walls and columns.
