1414. See The Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute
The Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute is arguably Venice’s second most famous place of worship. St. Marks is on one side of the Grand Canal and this church is located on the other. It really stands out from the other buildings there and takes center stage on the GC.
Opened in 1687, it features a Baroque design. The building’s exterior features dome towers above the skyline and statues of the apostles. The hexagonal design lets a lot of light inside too. The Roman Catholic Church declared it a minor basilica.
