17Flagstaff

Don’t overlook the city of Flagstaff! It’s best known as one of the cities found along Arizona’s portion of the famous “Mother Road”, Route 66. Flagstaff has a distinct landscape because it is almost 7,000 feet above sea level.

Visit in the winter and go skiing. Take the popular Snowbowl Scenic Chairlift up to the memorable Arizona Snowbowl on Agassiz Peak, the state’s second-highest mountain. Visit Sunset Crater Volcanic National Monument, the Lowell Observatory, where Pluto was discovered, and the tasty Mother Road Brewing Company too.
