20The Petrified Forest National Park

This unusual national park found between Highway 180 and Highway 40 is perhaps best known for its intricate rock formations and 200-million-year-old petrified tree trunks, petroglyphs, and fossils. It’s a great place to hike and explore. Veteran visitors recommend the Blue Mesa Trail. The Painted Desert Rim Trail is another favorite since it is scenic and not difficult to complete. Visit the interesting and educational Rainbow Forest Museum and learn about the area’s natural history.

  1. been to all but 2 .. most ive been to 3 to 80+ times..i was a tour director that took small groups on 2 week to 9 week camping trips usa, canada, alaska,mexico ..i did it for 16yrs..
