Majestic Monument Valley is actually ensconced in the well-known Navajo Nation on the border of both Arizona and Utah. Here amidst this natural landscape, you can take in the view of striking sandstone buttes that tower as high as 1,000 feet over the desolate, distinctive desert floor. Indeed, these formations span a space of many square miles.

Some travel journalists suggest setting up our base near the Mitten Buttes and taking a Navajo-guided tour. That way, you’ll get to see a number of noteworthy spots here.

  1. been to all but 2 .. most ive been to 3 to 80+ times..i was a tour director that took small groups on 2 week to 9 week camping trips usa, canada, alaska,mexico ..i did it for 16yrs..
