6Budapest, Hungary
Both a county and a city, and the country’s capital. While tourism is reportedly on the rise, Budapest is still a relatively well-kept secret. The most populous metropolis in Hungary, it’s also Europe’s fourteenth largest city. Veteran visitors say Budapest is also one of the world’s most beautiful city too, boasting scenic views of the famous Danube.
Designated a city of spas in the 1920s, Budapest includes The Rudas Bath, The Gellért Baths, and The Lukács Baths and Hotel. Budapest features one of the most beautiful castles on Earth, known as the Buda Castle. Ensconced on the Buda side of Budapest, it was damaged during World War Two but later restored. Other attractions include the historical House of Terror, the Museum of Fine Arts, and Statue Park.
