1Gdansk, Poland
Poland has become increasingly popular as a tourist stop in the past few years. Historic Krakow has been pulling in a record number of travelers in the past year or so. Still, just five and a half hours north via train ride, one will discover the Baltic coast gem known as Gdansk. The sixth largest city in Poland, it is also the nation’s principal seaport.
Noteworthy attractions include historic St. Mary or Bazylika Mariacka (a church constructed in the 15th century and the world’s largest brick church), the Long Market, the Westerplatte war monument, The Torture House, Neptune’s Fountain, Corpus Christi, the fun and educational Gdansk Zoo, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, the National Museum, and the Gdańsk Nowy Port Lighthouse, and The Prison Tower.
