Groningen (northern Netherlands) is a melting pot of cultures, and boasts of a couple of nice colleges, a thriving art scene and flourishing commerce. Museum aficionados will have a blast at the Groninger Museum, one of the country’s most futurist places, featuring supplementary graphical, comics, university and maritime museums. The performing arts and music scene is pretty strong here, with lots of street cafes conducting live entertainment. Owing to the largely concentrated student crowd, Groningen features a bustling nightlife, focused around Peperstraat, Vismarkt and The Grote Markt.
