The Windmill in Brixton
This indie outpost at 22 Blenheim Gardens is ensconced in a part of town that is mainly occupied by more commercial businesses. Inside you will discover what some veteran visitors confirm to be “a ramshackle bohemian atmosphere.” This is known to be a good place to see up-and-coming acts and popular buzz bands. The Windmill has already hosted the likes of the Cardiff seven-piece indie pop Los Campesinos, the Crimea, Guillemots, and Bloc Party. The beer is cheap here too! So drop in, have a pint or three, and rock out.
Koko in Camden Town
This well-known building on Camden High Street has had many names over the years. It was originally known as the Camden Theatre and opened its doors on Boxing Day in 1900. In 1982 it was officially renamed Camden Palace.
In 2004 the historic site was purchased and architecturally restored by media mogul Oliver Bengough and Mint Entertainment. Today this now popular live music hot spot is called Koko or in some cases The Music Machine. It has hosted performances by such major acts as Madonna, Oasis, Katy Perry, and Prince.
