10Casa Milà
Another fine example of Antoni Gaudi’s work, this fortress-like building is appropriately nicknamed La Pedrera or “The Quarry.” Just around the corner from Carrer de Provença and Passeig de Gràcia, this original, art nouveau building stands out from the classic architecture in the rest of the neighborhood.
The structure’s intricate carvings and rippling stone façade are obvious examples of Gaudí’s unusual architectural style. Originally meant to be a government building with apartments, today It is both a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Spanish National Monument of Interest.
