Mount Rainier is the fifth oldest national park in the country. This is a great destination for a family trip for a number of reasons. You can visit it all year.
More importantly, the park offers visitors incredible views of the 14,441-foot-high peak and wonderful waterfalls. You can also enjoy a short, peaceful stroll through lush, old forests and even hike one of the numerous hiking trails here. You can enjoy great views of the Tatoosh Mountain Range at the Paradise Visitor Center.
Take the one-mile hike to see the 72-foot-high Myrtle Falls at Paradise. It’s not only rated as “easy”, but it’s also even stroller-accessible. If you visit in late summer, hike the Skyline or Sourdough Ridge Trail and see the pretty wildflowers dotting the landscape. If you and yours are into skiing, snowshoeing, or sledding, this area averages 643 inches of snow every winter.
