8Dollywood’s Splash Country

Dollywood’s Splash Country in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is 35 acres worth of wet and wild fun for the whole family. This water park is home to RiverRush, the state’s first-and-only water coaster.  RiverRush includes a total of four drenching drops and hairy hairpin turns through dark tunnels that have made the ride a real fan favorite. Be sure to hit the Big Bear Plunge too. This wet white water rafting slide actually simulates a rough, real river expedition. The famous Fire Towel Falls is a truly terrifying two-slide drop from a harrowing 70 feet.

  1. This park closed in 2016 after a child was decapitated while on one the rides. The safety of the park was questionable from the beginning. You should remove the link to this article.

  2. Hi
This is an old article. I wrote the article but I have written about park disasters too so your comment is not specific enough for me to respond. You also fail to include any proof of your claim so without specifcs, I am afraid we can’t do anything beyond thank you for your comment and opinion of the unnamed park.

  3. The claim she made was “this park.” (Note how and where comments appear on this site.) She did not name a specific park.
Again, this is an old article. Thank you though for taking the time to figure out just which park she was allegedly referring to though, at any rate. We will not be taking down the entire old article because of one report. These were the top 9 at the time of publication.

  4. I live in Wisconsin and went to Noah’s Ark in 2019. Your story is wrong that never happened and it closed when the Pandemic hit in 2020

  5. Hi!
    Yes! HER comment is misleading!
    Thanks for proving my point!
She is apparently speaking about an entirely different water park BUT does not note the name. THIS is what I was trying to explain. The comment section appears under the park listed on this page and thus her comment could make people think THIS was the park that closed!
THANK YOU for your comment and your support too, of course.

  6. I believe she is referring to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City with the death of the 10 year old child, Caleb Schwab.

  7. Hi!
As we demonstrated previously in the comments, the problem was she did not specify which park her claim referred to in her comment. As you can see in the previous comments, her lack of details confused some people.
    Thank you for your support!

  8. Hi!
The claim to which you are responding was referencing a different water park. Thanks for your comment and support!

  9. Wow! Way to kill a fun filled story! You know there is a million things that are awesome in this world…. Water parks being one of them!So this story was about cool water parks…. Not a story that decapitated child…. Good vibe killer!!! Just keep scrolling!!!

  10. The park is still open, they shut down the ride and possibly removed it. Shlitterbahn Kansas City. A kid was decapitated.

  11. Hi!
We hope you are correct and it is now open and people can return to the park and have a good time!
Apparently, further discussion of the original confusing claim is a sore spot with one or two readers/her friends and we get profanity-laced, insulting comments that we are unable to publish. So while you and other readers are free to continue discussing it, we consider the whole confusing matter closed.
Thank you for your support! We appreciate it!

  12. The KC Schilterbahn was closed after the accident where a child was decapitated. It was reopened only to be permanently closed and has been torn down. It should never have been allowed to open as their safety protocols were weak. It’s very unfortunate a child had to die before this was realized.

  13. Hello!
Yes. There was an accident and it was closed. Then it was reopened. Much more recently, it was closed again.
They have plans to convert the property to an amateur sports complex. Now we are all up to date. Thanks for your comment and reading this older article. Hopefully, you will read the other articles here as well!

  14. Hi!
It has been awhile since I read about it but that sounds right to me. There was an accident. They shut down/closed the ride, reopened then closed. Last I heard–and it was awhile ago– they were turning into an amateur athletic park. Thanks for your support!
