The (North) Yungas Road in Bolivia is also known as the “Death Road.” The treacherous thoroughfare through the Amazon rainforest can be distinctly dangerous mainly because reportedly “unprecedented climatic conditions” impact on the accessibility. The Interamerican Development Bank deigned it the “World’s Most Dangerous Road” in 1995. Approximately 300 people perished there every year prior to the construction of another road between Coroico and La Paz in 2006. Dangerous conditions on Death Road include extreme fog, hairpin turns, landslides, waterfalls, and more.
