January marked the official opening of the world’s first National Museum of African American Music. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, this melodious museum offers an assortment of interactive exhibitions on the evolution of indigenous African music through the days of slavery, and the genres of gospel, blues, hip-hop, and rap. Yet another reason why the state capital is known as “Music City,” home of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and the raucous, random honky-tonks of Lower Broadway.
