The Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is situated in the Vosges mountains.  It faces towards the Black Forest and overlooks the well-known Alsatian plain.  This medieval castle was constructed circa 1147.

Built from pink sandstone, the castle has all the expected features of a fortress.  Its location is perfect for purposes of observation and, if need be, retreat.   The ground floor includes the grand bastion and living quarters.  Above you’ll find other charming chambers.
