9Canyonlands National Park, Utah

Canyonlands is a great nature destination to see in the month of May. It is often less busy than other national parks in Utah and in May it’s no hotter than 78 degrees Fahrenheit. If you don’t spend too much time in the lower areas though, it may even be a little cooler.

If you plan on hiking the more challenging trails or doing off-roading in this huge park, you should be especially aware of current weather conditions and plan accordingly. The most popular section of this park is the awesome Island in the Sky district. It is comparatively compact and has paved roads and stunning overlooks. Be sure to see the massive Mesa Arch too! If you like road trips you can even visit Arches National Park on the same trip.
