Also known as the Uyuni Salt Flat, this is the highest and largest continuous salt lake on the planet. It is situated in the Bolivian state of Potosi. It becomes an arid desert during dry seasons and contains as much as 10 billion tons of salt.
This salt flat is one of Bolivia’s biggest tourist attractions. This due in part to the fact that when you are there you feel as if you’re in some deserted post-apocalyptic place or perhaps even another planet. The salt has reflective properties. Thus, the salt crusts make a mirror and give visitors the impression they’re walking on clouds.
