Magazines
Magazines, too? Yes, even though you might have purchased the magazines in the airport, periodicals are increasingly falling under inspection. TSA agents might page through them as well.
Anything unidentified won’t fly
In an official press release, the TSA stated: “Items that cannot be identified and resolved at the checkpoint are prohibited from entering the cabin of the aircraft.” This means everything in your carry-on will be examined more closely than ever. If you’re packing anything “intimate,” you’d best ask for a private screening.
Helpful tips
- If you want to avoid a lengthy security screening, the TSA suggests preparing.
- Be at the airport three hours prior to any international flight and two hours prior to any domestic flight
- Be aware of anything you will have to take out of your carry-on prior to entering the security line
- Think about packing anything presently subjected to special scrutiny into your checked suitcases rather than your carry-ons
- Don’t wear bulky accessories, jewelry, or scarves. If you must wear anything bulky be ready to put them into bins.
- Make sure you don’t leave anything in the bins after being screened.
