7. Port Isaac, England
A traditional fishing village, picturesque Port Isaac, is situated on Cornwall’s craggy cliffs. Here you will see a hillside sturdily stacked with whitewashed cottages and narrow streets and small boats in the harbor. Be sure to sample the fresh fish, lobster, and crab still hauled into shore today. Viewers of the TV shows “Doc Martin” and “Poldark” will undoubtedly recognize the place.
8. Ronda, Spain
The Moorish mountaintop village of Ronda is located in the city of Málaga, in Andalusia. It is a white village, or pueblos blancos, ensconced over the El Tajo gorge. How’d you like to cross the Puente Nuevo bridge straddling the deep chasm? It dates back to the 1700s. Visit the Cuenca Gardens then dine on a restaurant terrace overlooking the 120-meter-deep ravine below you.
