20. The Venetian Pool, Coral Gables, Florida, USA
This popular and historic public swimming pool located in Coral Gables was opened in 1924. The pool was designed by Denman Fink and Phineas Paist. It is found in an old quarry. Every day it displaces approximately 820,000 US gallons or 3,100 m3 of water from local artesian wells. Thus, it is the country’s biggest freshwater pool.
21. Seagaia Ocean Dome, Miyazaki, Japan
Opened in 1993, the Polynesian-themed Seagaia Ocean Dome used to be the largest waterpark in the world. It was 100 meters wide and 300 meters long and was actually a part of the popular Sheraton Seagaia Resort. The Dome was shut down in 2007, reopened in 2016, closed again in 2017 and has since been demolished.
