2February
Lapland, Finland
Well, there’s no arguing that aurora borealis is at its striking best and most visible in February in Finland’s Lapland. It is located to the Arctic Circle’s north, and hence looks stunning at the far end of winters. Think of this – Lapland occupies a massive 30% of Finland’s entire territory but houses only 3% of its inhabitants. It is that isolated! This is indeed the perfect region to roam around, enjoy an exhilarating sled ride, going on a snowmobile or experiencing the region’s absolute snowy wilderness. Since the 24 hour darkness, polar nights have concluded, you may also spot reindeers.
