The earliest inhabitants to Susa came here in 4,200 BC. It was Elamite Empire’s capital before being seized by the Assyrian forces. It was later captured by the Persians. It is also the iconic setting of one of the world’s most tragic plays showcasing the Athenian tragedy. Iran’s contemporary Shush features a population of about 65,000 residents. The region boasts of spectacular natural beauty, lined by picturesque mountains and the vast blue ocean.
