Pripyat was most impacted by the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl in the late 20th century. The huge amount of radiations released into the air compelled locals to escape to less polluted places, which has made the region one of the world’s most famous abandoned places. There are lots of eerie reminders of what the region once was, including toys, clocks (all curiously displaying the same time) and a deteriorating theme park.
