9Kolmanskop, Namibia

In the beginning of the 20th century, Kolmanskop was a thriving diamond mining destination. However, once the opportunity seeking diamond digging local inhabitants found more lucrative destinations, they abandoned Kolmans and went elsewhere. Thus leaving the once flourishing region into a isolated, ghost-town. Today the region is known for its sand stored homes, which have features in several Hollywood flicks.
