6Dive for wrecks in Coron

In 1944 24 Helldiver bombers bombed several fleeing Japanese ships. In 15 minutes the ships had been sunk. Today six shipwrecks provide a truly “tempting target” for scuba divers. If you go diving you will be taken from Busuanga Island to the wrecks via “banca” (motorized outrigger boats). Beginning divers can study the exteriors of the sunken ships and see the coral-covered armaments, cranes, and portholes.

Expert scuba divers can actually go inside the vessels and explore the bomb holes, long-abandoned engine rooms, and assorted personal effects. These wrecks are anywhere from 10 to 140 feet deep. The average depth is between 60 and 80 feet.
