44. The Dreaming Girl, UK
If you’re in England, head (get it?) to St. Helen’s between Manchester and Liverpool. The sleeping girl’s face is 65 feet tall. It can easily be seen from the M62 highway.
“Dream” presents a picture of a girl deeply lost in her own reverie. Her face features closed eyes and what some call a “serene expression.” Sculpted by artist Jaume Plensa, it sits on what was once the site of the famous Sutton Manor Colliery. It reportedly represents endless possibilities and the future.
