23Cinque Terre
One of the more frequently-mentioned spots in northwestern Italy to make our various lists is Cinque Terre a.k.a “Five Towns”. An official UNESCO World Heritage Site, it features colorful cliff-top homes perched above azure water and backed by lush, rough mountains. Here you can hike the cliff-top hiking trails, stroll the crooked, narrow streets that run through the charming villages, or kick back with the locals and sample their pasta or pizza.
